IQNA – Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center announced the readiness of its hospitals to receive Palestinians injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The center said that all Al-Azhar hospitals are fully prepared to welcome injured Palestinians and to address the critical situation caused by the Israeli aggression.

Relief convoys will be active through Egypt’s Zakat and Sadaqat House in support of the Palestinian people, it said.

Al-Azhar also called on all free-thinking people in the world to mobilize efforts to help the Gaza Strip and expedite operations to save injured Gazans, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported.

It further praised the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people, their loyalty to their homeland, and the courage of Palestinian children, women, and the elderly in defending their country in spite of the brutal terrorism of the Israeli regime.

It went on to say that the names of Gaza’s martyrs will remain in the history of nations’ struggles against injustice and oppression and inspire the continuation of Palestinians’ legitimate struggle until fully regaining the rights of the Palestinian nation.

It comes after Qatar announced on Wednesday that Israel and the Palestinian Hamas resistance group had agreed to a ceasefire.

The truce is expected to come into effect on January 19 and includes three phases, each of which will last 42 days.

The first phase will see the release of about 1,000 Palestinian abductees, including those with lengthy sentences, in exchange for 33 Israeli captives held in Gaza. It also requires Israeli occupation forces to begin withdrawing from the Philadelphi corridor - also known as the Salah al-Din axis - on the Gaza-Egypt border.

More than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 110,000 others were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
